Missions & Outreach

2010 Mission Trip

YOUTHWORKS Intergenerational Mission Trip is planned for the summer of 2010 to the northwoods of Minnesota's Cass Lake region. This year the focus will be on two primary areas of ministry: a hands-on program with the local Kids Club and home improvement. Our work refreshing a house with a new coat of paint will bring real hope and an opportunity to share the love of Christ.   Evening activities during a YouthWorks week are designed to give participants an insight into the lives of local residents and the culture of the area. Some of the evening/cultural activities done in the past include: learning about American Indian History at Spirit of the Living Forest; take part in an educational activity; attend a community cookout; and spend an evening at the beach. Contact the church for more information.

Quilting

First Lutheran has a dedicated group of quilters who meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 9:00 a.m.  There is also an opportunity for those with an access to a sewing machine to piece quilt tops at home.  If you can tie an knot, you are welcome to join this group.  If you just want to come for the fellowship, you're welcome as well.  Lunch is often provided.

Prayer Shawl Team

First Lutheran's Prayer Shawl Team has been active for several years.  They meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.  Shawls are crafted by hand and woven with prayer.  Recipients of the shawls are members and others who are in need of being "wrapped" in prayer.
